WORKSHOPS
WHAT TO EXPECT
Short course ceramic workshops are held throughout the year. These workshops are hosted by David Barnes and invited ceramic artists and generally focus on a particular theme, style or technique, allowing the student to explore more in-depth aspects of the ceramic work being featured. Both beginner and experienced students are encouraged to participate.
You may sign up any time during the year, full payment for each course should be made at least 3 weeks in advance of the workshop start date. Space is limited, so register early to reserve your spot.
Accomodation:
There are numerous Air BnB, Hotels and Motels in the area.
RV and Camping is available on site, so please include your interest in RV or camping in your registration request.

2 Day Open Workshop:
Weekend of March 25th and 26th, 2023
Instructor: David Barnes
This is a beginner and intermediate level throwing and hand building workshop. Come and learn a new technique or hone your existing skills.
2 Day Alternative Firing (Bare Clay Techniques) Workshop:
Weekend of May 6th and 7th, 2023
Instructor: Audrey Stamm
This workshop explores the fundamentals of a variety of alternative firing techniques, including sagger, obvara and horsehair firing
3 Day Cone 6 Glaze Workshop:
June 2nd - 4th, 2023
Instructor: John Britt
This intermediate level glaze workshop is hosted by one of the industry's leading glaze teachers and authors. The focus of this workshop is to help ceramic artists and potters understand the intricacies of glazes, how they work and tools to assist them.

5 Day July Sculpture & Hand Buildiing Summer School:

5 Day August Summer School:
August 21st - 25th, 2023
Instructor: David Barnes
For Those who throw, the focus will be on jugs, jars and lids.
For hand builders, the student will be exposed to slab construction, advanced coiling techniques and working with extruded forms.
3 Day Alberta Potters Workshop:
September 22nd - 24th, 2023
Instructor: David Barnes
This is the annual "bring your own project" workshop for David's Alberta past students. Alternative firing techniques will also be included.
