3 Day Glaze Development Workshop w John Britt

 

September 27th - 29th, 2025

9:00am - 6:00pm (1 hour lunch break) Instruction will be given from 9:30am - 4:30pm

 

$550 per person (includes GST and PST).  50% deposit must accompany your registration, with the balance owing on the first day of the workshop.

This workshop will be a general overview of ceramic glazes, focusing on glaze development and understanding. It is designed for beginner to intermediate potters. We will discuss cones, kilns, firing dynamics and principles as well as applying those principles to various firing cycles. This will lead us into some basic classifications of glazes, like ash, celadon, temmoku, etc. We will discuss how and why each type of glaze works and how you can achieve them, how to adjust your glazes and how to find new ones. Students will mix and test glazes with raw materials.

 WHAT TO BRING

Please bring with you a notebook, glaze ideas and examples, a suitable apron or coveralls, a towel and any tools that you may already have.  Clay, equipment and additional tools needed for the workshop will be provided. Finished work will be charged for after firing, by weight, size and type of clay used.
